Stewards of Children® a program by Darkness to Light

Darkness to Light has a wide array of award-winning training for adults looking to help prevent child sexual abuse and protect children. Stewards of Children® is their flagship, evidence-informed prevention training helps adults prevent, recognize, and react responsibly to child sexual abuse.

The training is two hours and features survivor stories, experts in the field, and other concerned individuals all providing practical guidance to prevent child sexual abuse.

Human Trafficking Training Program

Our Human Trafficking Training Program addresses the critical issue of human trafficking​— a form of modern-day slavery, where individuals are exploited for commercial gain. Trafficking can include forced labor, sex trafficking, and other forms of exploitation.

Our training is designed for community groups, professionals, and industries such as hospitality, where awareness is crucial. Participants will learn to recognize the signs of human trafficking, understand its various forms, and gain insight into its prevalence. The program also covers important reporting measures and provides valuable resources to assist in identifying and preventing trafficking.

Faith Communities & Trauma Training Program

Our Faith Communities & Trauma Response Training Program is tailored for various roles within faith organizations, including faith leaders, youth leaders, children's ministers, elders/deacons, church leadership staff, and volunteers.

This training teaches:
• Types of trauma most common among members
• How to respond to disclosures of abuse
• Avoiding burnout
• Referring to faith-based vs. mental health counseling
• Liability issues, including policy and procedures and on-going staff training

The goal of this program is to empower faith leaders to respond to disclosures of sexual abuse in a trauma-informed way.

Our Trauma & the Brain Training Program offers an in-depth look at how the brain responds to trauma and the common symptoms survivors may experience. This training is essential for anyone working with or supporting survivors, providing insights into the complex relationship between trauma and brain function.

This training is designed to inform community members and professional groups about our agency’s resources, helping to increase awareness and foster collaboration in supporting survivors of sexual violence.

Community Green Dot Bystander Intervention Training Program

Our Green Dot Bystander Intervention Training Program for Community Groups is designed to empower individuals to take an active role in preventing interpersonal violence. Through this program, participants learn how to recognize situations where others may be in imminent danger and are equipped with the skills to safely intervene. By encouraging proactive behaviors, we help foster community norms that reject violence and promote safety.

This training is not just about responding in the moment but also about creating a culture where power-based violence, including sexual assault, domestic violence, and bullying, is not tolerated. Participants will leave the training with a deeper understanding of how even small actions can make a big difference in keeping our community safe.
